Oso is Sick and It's Driving Me Crazy

Isn't that horrible? I guess the fact that he feels great is what is so infuriating about it and that I couldn't or didn't prevent it from happening.

I had a dream that Oscar and I were looking at a litter of little 8 week old puppies along with some other people. They were rottweiler puppies, but they were cute and everyone was saying how they wanted one. Oscar asked me if I wanted another puppy and I told him I didn't think I could go through all the work again right now. At that moment, I looked back at Oso who was on a huge deck overlooking a beautiful cliff view and his leash was under a chair (holding him there). There were other dogs in similar situations separated by a partition. One dog was restrained by having his leash attached to a hook hanging from the ceiling. A closer look showed that there was no weight on the chair to keep it still, so I walked over and put his leash under something heavier (I think it was a table). I went back to Oscar thinking (as cranky wives do), what in the world was Oscar thinking? A few minutes later, something started happening with the dogs. They all starting making their way to the open side of the decks, looking down at something. Something was down there and the puppies were jumping. At first no one was alarmed, we thought they would be ok and were surprised talking about them being lemmings. Then we heard the huge booms of the chairs coming down after them (which were supposed to hold them on the deck). The dog held by the hook attached to the beam had walked off and was strangling itself. Oso and one other dog were the only puppies who hadn't fallen because they were under something heavy. Everyone was afraid to look over and see if the others were alive (which they probably weren't). And then I woke up.

Oso has giardia, which translates into diarrhea which is very difficult to pick up, but imperative!! as you don't want to affect other doggies and last night he started coughing. Could he have bordatella too? Even though he got the shots? I heard the vaccination wasn't that great and perhaps his immune system is low because of the giardia.

Hope it goes away soon. He's still a cute little beast though and the granuloma on his head is slowly decreasing in size. :)

He was prescribed:

Ms. Rebel Rouser Dolly IV was born on July 26th, 1991 to parents Rebel Rouser ET and Rebel Rouser Desperado. While she didn't have any titles herself, it looks like her breeding was star quality. Her father was a DC, ROM and Hall of Famer, His father was a hall of famer, and both his parents before him. Her mother is also filled with Hall of Famers in her history. It looks like there is some inbreeding going on here.

INFO ON DUCHES FROM THE ROZANEK KENNELS
Rebel Rouser Vizslas began in 1963 with the purchase of an outstanding bitch named Dutchess. Although we weren't sure how to train at that point, she was entered in the 1964 Vizsla Club of America national field trials. Dutchess was entered in both the puppy stake and the derby stake, for dogs under two years of age. And in spite of not knowing the first thing about "real" training methods, she won both stakes. Dutchess went on to win the national derby stake three times, a record that has not been duplicated to our knowledge. She then became one of the first female Vizsla field champions and the beginning of our breeding program.

Born on July 14, 1988 to Rebel Rouser ET and Lindens Little Jesse, this handsome guy would be only a couple years younger than me if he were still around. He stayed around for 11 years and then passed away in 1999.

Unfortunately, I can find very little on Buster Keeton except his awards and many many famous offspring. Apparently Mr. Buster was very talented and has an amazing lineage. Check out his extended lineage, here

Tribute to Great Grandma (B) - Madison III

MADISON III

Mrs. Madison III was born on December 21, 1997 to parents Buster Keeton and Allie.

Called Madi for short, this little girl lived happily with her adopted parents Pam and Mark Spurgeon, in Belvidere, Illinois. Inspired by her beauty and natural skill, they started her in competition which led to breeding and finally a business name, Crimson Sky Vizslas.

**If we ever get another vizsla, I would consider getting one from there. They describe Madison III with such love. They have many pictures of her, describe her personality, I get so much more from their website than many others! I have just fallen in love with this family and their beautiful V's.

Now, for Mrs. Madison III's AKC Information:
Madison III SH CGC
SN503415/01 10-00
Golden Rust
OFA112E

This little girl was a SENIOR HUNTER! (AKC says this means qualifying scores at 5 licensed or member tests).

She got her Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) This didn't show on her AKC pedigree, but I think it is wonderful. I have known since before we got Oso that that is a goal for him!

And she has excellent hips! Go Madi!!

And now, let's hear a bit about Madi from the Spurgeons....

"Madi was our foundation bitch and the start of Crimson Sky Vizslas. Ruger and Ariel are her pups. They are full siblings, but not littermates. Madi was our "Queen" and lived the life of royalty! She was the one who got us started with these red dogs. Madison was originally just a companion and casual hunting dog, but turned into much more. Madison's fantastic bloodlines and the help of other vizsla owners soon taught us that these dogs are not just any dog. Her sire was Buster Keeton and her dam was an Askim bitch named Allie. We started competing as way to learn more and spend more time in the field enjoying our dog. We were then quickly hooked by Jim Busch and started enjoying many weekends at dog competitions with good friends who also loved vizslas. Madison was the best hunting dog anyone could want. Her desire and drive would keep you hunting all day long. She had an excellent nose, soft mouth and tremendous stamina. Madison always retrieved wounded birds to hand and never gave up looking for the hard to find ones. Madi learned many tricks and even leanred to retrieve beer from the cooler for Mark.

We will forever miss our Madi

Rest in Peace Madison III

March, 2010

In addition to Oso's Grandpa, Madison III had two other puppies whom continued to breed and stay in the family. One is Ariel, who is supposedly laid back and easy going and the other is Ruger who is the highest nationally titled Vizsla in history.

Now, let's go ahead and see who created the beautiful Ms. Madison III

Going to Grandma's House? Shiloh's Happy Go Lucky

MRS. SHILOH'S HAPPY GO LUCKY

Oso's Grandma on his dad's side grew up on the Chenowith farm in Illinois along with her mate, Shiloh's Rommel Blitzkrieg.

I don't know if she is the cutest little Grandma around, but she sure does look like my Oso and that makes her adorable to me. The expression she is making is the same one our Oso makes.

Mrs. Shiloh's Happy Go Lucky was born on December 19, 2005 to her father Pointe Blanc's Rusty Miracle and her mother, Berry's Taking Chances.

The Chenowith's say,

"Smiley fits her name like a glove. Lots of sweet personality with a die hard love of hunting. Accomplished her Junior Hunt Title in 2009, be looking for more in the future."

Let's go ahead and look at her AKC Info:

Shiloh's Happy Go Lucky JH

JH = Junior Hunter! (received qualifying scores at 4 licensed or member tests)

Now, it's time to go ahead down the lineage. I'm not sure if Miss Shiloh's Happy Go Lucky will live up to her Hall of Fame lineage mate, but if I can pictures and information, I will be satisfied.

**On another note, can I express my surprise at Shiloh's Happy Go Lucky's parents? She looks much smaller than them and a darker color. Her parents look different than the dogs in Oso's Grandpa A's side. This will be interesting!!!

Images of a Great Great Grandfather - Lifo Riley

MR. LIFO RILEY
Oso's Great Great Grandfather was born on March 31, 1993 to parents Little Richi Whompum and Rebel Rouser Dolly IV. He was bred by Thomas Gaulke and owned by Gina and Tony Ordonez. Gina wrote this adorable article containing Vizla-isms, very endearing.

Lifo Miley was the 1995 Midwest Vizsla Futurity winner, a competition which "showcases the best of the Midwest hunting dogs." In fact, founders claim a quick look through the winners shows a "who's who" of top field dogs

AKC lists him as follows:

FC AFC Lifo Riley
SN066676/09 03-96
Golden Rust
OFA25G AKC DNA #V78109

FIELD CHAMPION. That explains Mr. Raany's success. AKC what is involved to be a FC here

AFC stands for AMATEUR FIELD CHAMPION. Ok, AKC, defines that here

DNA certifies that his breed lines are pure!

Now who is Mr. Lifo Riley's Dad? (how far into this pedigree will I go?) I guess when I can get no further information.

Hello My Great Grandfather - Raany

I was looking forward to introducing both Raany and his mate, Madison III, as it is obvious they were dearly loved by their families.

RAANY

Raany had a simple name with a lot of bravo around it.

He was born in Canada on December 12, 1995. He died in October of 2004 at the tender age of 8 years old. You will see as we continue on that his owners at Busch Vizslas were very involved in field trials and very proud of their little guy, he has quite a lot of accomplishments, which will be listed below.

Let's go ahead and get his AKC listing down:

FC AFC Raany SH
SN303120/01 03-98
Golden Rust
AKC DNA# V70265

OFA Hip: VZ-5674G24M GOOD

FC stands for FIELD CHAMPION. That sounds very impressive to me. AKC tells us what that means, here

AFC stands for AMATEUR FIELD CHAMPION. Ok, AKC, defines that here

And then that SH at the end? That's for SENIOR HUNTER (AKC says this means qualifying scores at 5 licensed or member tests).

DNA pretty much means, we know as Oscar always says about Oso, "He's a vizsla!"

Now what does Busch Vizslas say about Oso's Great Grandfather?

" Raany was an awesome field trial dog with a very successful awards record, and hunting companion. His sweet calm temperament produced many offspring who have been successful in all aspects of competition. In the March/April 2006 issue of the VCA News (national club’s magazine) six of the Top Ten Field Puppy/Derby dogs are out of Raany. He was sire of the two-time Open Gun Dog of the Year, multiple field champions and show champions."

That sounds very nice to me. I love hearing about the temperaments.

Are we ready for the accolades? Ok... scroll down to the bottom. I'm having formatting issues, so down they go. For Raany's pedigree, look here.
